Safe Asbestos Removal for Calgary & Edmonton

The Asbestos Abatement Process
Advanced Remediation Solutions Inc. follows all Alberta Occupational Health & Safety guidelines for asbestos abatement. We provide proper training for employees, certification for equipment, emergency response plans, decontamination shower when required and professionals trained in first aid on site. You can be assured that all codes will be followed and precautions taken to ensure safety during asbestos removal in Edmonton, Calgary and the rest of Alberta.

Containment is a critical aspect of the process and must be achieved prior to any removal of asbestos-containing materials. Advanced Remediation Solutions Inc. follows all established procedures and establishes negative air to prevent the release of asbestos fibres into the surrounding environment. When necessary, we set up clean rooms with decontamination showers. All of our workers wear approved face masks, gloves and protective clothing. Air monitoring is done during the project for moderate and high-risk abatements.

Removing Asbestos Materials
When removing materials containing asbestos, Advanced Remediation Solutions Inc. adheres to the following Alberta Abatement Guidelines:

  • We file a notice of project with Workplace Health & Safety.
  • We perform DOP (filter efficiency) testing of HEPA-filtered air movers and vacuums.
  • We ensure containment of the area to be abated with decontamination setup.
  • We set up HEPA-filtered air moving equipment to prevent any cross contamination.
  • We visually inspect the containment with the environmental consultant before abatement begins. (Legislation requires this for moderate and high-risk abatements.)
  • All personnel, equipment and bagged asbestos waste exit the containment area using the specified decontamination process.
  • Trained environmental consultants perform a visual inspection to ensure all asbestos materials have been removed and containment is clean. (Legislation requires this for moderate and high-risk abatements.)
  • A slow drying sealant is applied to surfaces before dismantling the containment area. This keeps non-visible asbestos fibres from becoming airborne.
  • An environmental consultant completes a final air test after a minimum drying period of four hours. (Legislation requires this for moderate and high-risk abatements.)

The Mould Remediation Process

As your trusted Alberta remediation experts, Advanced Remediation Solutions Inc. is skilled in all types of containment situations and knows how to create an environment that is effective in preventing the spread of contamination.

Containment is a critical aspect of the process, and negative air must be achieved prior to any removal of mould-impacted materials. During our mould removal in Edmonton and Calgary, all of our workers wear approved face masks, gloves and protective clothing. Decontamination protocols similar to those used for an asbestos abatement are followed, ensuring no release of mould spores into the surrounding environment.

This phase includes the following:

  • Containment of the area to be remediated with decontamination setup.
  • Setup of HEPA-filtered air moving equipment to prevent any cross contamination.
  • Careful removal of mould-impacted materials.
  • Final clean of the contained area.
  • Environmental consultant completes a clearance air test.
(This step is optional but recommended and should be performed by qualified third party)

Please keep in mind that remediation of a mould contamination should only be conducted by trained personnel.

What is HEPA?
HEPA is a type of air filter that stands for high-efficiency particulate arrestance. To qualify for this rating, a filter must be able to remove 99.97% of particles that are .3 microns or larger. A micron is one millionth of a meter. In other words, by using these filters, we are able to trap the most miniscule of contaminants.
